Like all UGC-recognized universities in India, MSCB University operates its Plagiarism Cell in compliance with the UGC (Promotion of Academic Integrity and Prevention of Plagiarism in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2018. The cell functions to uphold academic integrity across all research, thesis, dissertation, and publication activities within the university. The cell aims to maintain academic honesty, originality, and ethical research practices among students, scholars, faculty members, and staff of the university.
Objective
To promote academic integrity and ethical research culture in the university.
To prevent plagiarism in research papers, dissertations, theses, project reports, assignments, and publications.
To create awareness among students, researchers, and faculty members regarding intellectual honesty and proper citation practices.
To implement UGC guidelines related to plagiarism prevention and academic misconduct.
To provide access to plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin or other approved tools for checking similarity reports.
To ensure that all Ph.D. theses, dissertations, research articles, and academic documents are screened for plagiarism before submission/publication.
To organize workshops, seminars, orientation programmes, and training sessions on research ethics, referencing styles, and plagiarism avoidance techniques.
To develop standard procedures for plagiarism checking and report generation within the university.
To examine complaints related to plagiarism and recommend suitable action as per UGC regulations and university norms.
To encourage original research, innovation, and responsible academic writing among all stakeholders.
To maintain confidentiality, transparency, and fairness while dealing with plagiarism-related cases.
To support quality improvement in research publications and academic outputs of the university.
Operations
Student must test his/her plagiarism at least 10 days before the final pre- submission/ submission of thesis.
Students must test the plagiarism by their respective Supervisor/ at the Central Library to ensure below 10% (less than or equal to 1% from any single source). Then only they may consult to the Prof (I/C) Plagiarism Check for verification and obtaining final certificate (send your thesis to: mscbuplag@gmail.com)
The content of the thesis for pre-submission must atleast start from Abstract
followed by Introduction to Conclusion and References.
The content of the thesis for final submission must be of entire document starting from Title page to Reference page. After the final check, no other updates in the thesis are allowed under any circumstances, as the No of pages and word count in the thesis will be generated in the final Plag report.
After the pre-submission of thesis, the next round plagiarism check during final submission must be done under the following conditions:
a. If any corrections in the thesis suggested by SRC members during presubmission viva.
b. If the time exceeds more than 15 days from the date of pre-submission.
c. If the candidate received updation comment on the final submitted thesis from the Examiner before the final Defend Viva-voce.
Important:
If any scholar is checking the thesis at any outside Turnitin software other than MSCB University Turnitin Check, please ensure that his/her thesis is not saved in any other repository which may create problems while generating the Plagiarism report and such reports will not be considered.
