The Supreme Court of India while considering the case Vishaka and others VS State of Rajasthan, pronounced its judgement which laid down guidelines for dealing with sexual harassment of woman at work place in India through The Sexual Harassment of Women at Work place (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013 and accordingly there shall be an internal mechanism in every, union, State and its Departments & Institutions including private to address grievances of women.

Pursuant to the above, the UGC notified the regulations namely – UGC (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Women and students in Higher Education Institutions) Regulations, 2015.

Sexual harassment includes any one or more of the following unwelcome acts or behaviour(whether directly or by implication) namely:-

• Physical contact and advances
• Planning and Monitoring Tracker for NOU Affiliates
• A demand or request for sexual favours
• Making sexually coloured remarks
• Any unwelcome messages through telephone or internet
• Showing pornography
• Any other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature

• Complaints regarding Sexual Harassment must be made in the prescribed format
• Be honest while describing the complaint, as false complaints can invite penalities.
• Must file within a period of three months from the date of incident
• Should be handed over to any internal member of the ICC or can be sent an email to ICC
