The National Service Scheme (NSS) Bureau of the University functions as a platform for promoting social responsibility, community engagement, leadership, and personality development among students through voluntary service activities. The NSS Bureau works in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and aims to develop socially conscious and responsible citizens through community-oriented programmes.

The Bureau coordinates NSS activities across affiliated colleges and University departments, encouraging students to participate in extension activities, awareness campaigns, environmental programmes, health initiatives, disaster management, rural development, and nation-building activities.

• To develop social responsibility, leadership qualities, and community service spirit among students through voluntary participation in NSS activities.
• To organize community-oriented programmes related to health, sanitation, environment, literacy, gender sensitization, disaster management, and social awareness.
• To promote national integration, civic responsibility, discipline, and youth development in accordance with the objectives of the National Service Scheme.
• To coordinate and monitor NSS units and special camps in the University and affiliated colleges as per Government guidelines.
• To encourage students to engage with local communities and contribute towards sustainable social development and nation-building activities.

Functioning of the NSS Bureau
The NSS Bureau functions under the supervision of the University administration and coordinates NSS activities through Programme Coordinators, Programme Officers, NSS volunteers, and affiliated colleges.
Major Functions and Workflow
1. Coordination of NSS Units

• Supervises NSS units functioning in the University and affiliated colleges.
• Communicates NSS guidelines, schedules, and activity plans to Programme Officers.

2. Conduct of NSS Activities

• Organizes regular activities such as plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, blood donation camps, health awareness programmes, and social outreach initiatives.
• Conducts Special NSS Camps in adopted villages and communities.

3. Student Participation and Leadership

• Encourages active student participation in community service programmes.
• Develops leadership, teamwork, communication, and organizational skills among NSS volunteers.

4. Training and Awareness Programmes

• Organizes orientation programmes, workshops, and training sessions for NSS Programme Officers and volunteers.
• Promotes awareness on social, environmental, and national issues.

5. Monitoring and Reporting

• Maintains records of NSS activities, volunteer participation, camps, and achievements.
• Prepares reports and submits activity details to the concerned Government authorities and NSS Regional Directorate.
