Students and Faculties desirous of using the Library should register their names and affiliation legibly in the register kept for the purpose and the signature, so record will be treated as their acknowledgement to abide by the rules of the Library.
When a book is being borrowed from the library, it should be examined carefully and the attention of the issue assistant called to any defects there in. The last borrower shall be held responsible for any defects noticed later.
Every member borrowing a book from the library shall be responsible for its safe custody until it is returned. Any loss or damage of the book must be immediately reported to the librarian.
When a book is returned at the return counter the borrower should see that the return entries are duly made in his borrower book and should take back his ticket. If a borrower’s ticket is in the library, the borrower shall be held responsible for the book borrowed using the ticket.
Library books are not transferable. No books will be issued on behalf of other books.
Members shall not bring any personal belongings except the library books issued to them inside the library.
No members shall be allowed to take any printed material in to the library without the permission of the librarian.
Strict silence shall be observed in and around the library.
Smoking, spitting and using cell phone in and around the library is Strictly prohibited.
Books and periodicals of the library should not be marked, mutilated or written upon.
Members shall not engage themselves in conversation in any part of library causing inconvenience to other members.
Any member found guilty of tampering the books shall lose his/her membership from the library.
Any member found misbehaving abusing the library staff or behaving in any unruly manner shall forfeit his/her membership.
All the members shall abide by the rules that may be framed by the Prof. In-charge, Library of the university from time to time.
Entailment of borrowing limit
All University students / M.Phil students and research scholars of the University are allowed to borrow five books each at a time. Teachers are allowed to borrow seven books. The other category of members can borrow books as per the rule of the Library in force. Class III employees can borrow 3 books and class IV employees 2 books each at a time.
Overdue Charge
Both the students and faculties are entitled to pay the overdue charges in case of so.
The Librarian has the power to allow any exemption of overdue charges in case of officers, teachers and members of the authorities of the University and also extend the due date period in case of other categories of borrowers for good and sufficient reasons to be recorded in writing.
No students are allowed to keep books with him/her during summer vacation.
A member against whom any overdue or other charges are outstanding shall not be allowed to borrow books or withdraw his deposit until he has paid the amount due.
Student can borrow books for a maximum period of 15 days. A fine of rupees 1/- per book will be charged for each day of delay of maximum period of 15 days. Thereafter, for each day for each book a fine of Rs. 10/- will be levied till the books returned in order to ensure wide circulation of particular book.
Penalty
Before taking a book out of the Library, the member must satisfy himself/herself as to whether the book lent to him/her is in good condition or not. In case of any damage, he/she must immediately bring the matter to the notice of the Librarian otherwise will be liable to be held responsible for the damaged state of the book.
If a book of a set is damaged or lost the whole set may have to be replaced or the value as assessed by the Librarian be immediately paid to the Library or the book or set in question be actually replaced by the borrower.
In case a book is lost, ten times the cost will be paid by the borrower/ replace with a new edition of the books.
In case a smart card is lost, Rs. 200/- per card is levied for issue of each duplicate card.
