PERSONAL INFORMATION

Sudam Charan Sahu, M.Sc., Ph. D, F.I.A.A.T. is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany, Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University, Baripada (Odisha), India. He received his M. Sc. degree from Ravenshaw University, Cuttack. He qualified UGC-NET and availed CSIR-SRF fellowship for his Ph. D. degree. Before availing the CSIR-SRF fellowship, he was working in a biodiversity project under the supervision of Dr. M. Brahmam at CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar. He did his Ph. D from CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar (Under Utkal University, Bhubaneswar), India and Post-Doctorate from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (India). His specialization and research fields include plant taxonomy, ethnobotany, forest ecology, climate change and biodiversity conservation. He has published more than 84 papers in various national and international journals, 3 books, 18 book chapters and edited 03 books. He is recognized as Fellow of Indian Association for Angiosperm Taxonomy. Under his guidance, 3 Ph. D. and 6 M. Phil. students are awarded. He was also awarded with DST-Young Scientist from Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB), DST, Government of India. He has completed 03 projects and continuing 02 project funded by various funding agencies such as SERB, DST, Govt. of India, MoEF & CC, Govt. of India, Science, Technology Department and OSHEC, Govt. of Odisha. Dr. Sahu and his team members of Department of Botany, MSCB University in collaboration with faculty from Utkal University have developed a model for measuring the climax stage of secondary forests based on species richness. He is a well-recognized reviewer of many Science Citation Index (SCI) and Non-SCI journals.
