Sanskrutikee- The Museum

The Cultural Museum of the University-  Sanskrutikee– established in 2022, with a motto to persuade the preservation of the heritage culture of Northern Odisha, India, houses hundreds of specimens relating to the hunting-gathering activities, fishing activities, agricultural practices, household materials, costumes, ornaments, art and crafts (terracotta, metal, bamboo, grass etc), musical instruments, paintings and the rare stone artefacts of prehistoric periods, largely used by the rural folk of Northern Odisha. Each collection in this museum has been displayed to create awareness among the museum users about the historical and cultural significance of the objects and to disseminate the local knowledge from the meaning being created by each exhibited object.

The Zoology Museum

The Zoology Museum is a repository of faunal specimens used for study and reference. The museum run by the Department of Zoology was established in 2016 and used as an aid for teaching and research. It is also an attraction for the general public disseminating knowledge about the faunal diversity of India, with special reference to Odisha. This museum also depicts the rich faunal diversity of Similipal Biosphere Reserve in the form of photographs, posters and some representative faunal specimens. The museum holds representative specimens of 10 phyla of Non-Chordata and the Phylum Chordata. Demonstrative bones of vertebrates, wild mammal pug marks, etc are also for display. The museum is helping impart knowledge to the local public and visitors and contributing to the conservation and protection of Biodiversity.

The museum has a unique way of identifying every specimen. The specimens are QR-coded and upon scanning the code a page is displayed illustrating the taxonomic position, identifying characteristics, economic importance, common names etc. of a specimen. The museum also treasures posters depicting commonly available polychaetes, spiders, fish, amphibians and snakes of Odisha and Eastern India.
