The department of Sanskrit came into existence from the year 2014. Very soon, one Associate Professor and one Assistant Professor were appointed in Regular mode, in addition to other temporary/contractual faculty members. Initially, the department was running in self- financing mode; then the regular department was functioning from Keonjhar campus and self financing department in Baripada campus. The student intake to the department is 40 and usually, the number of applicants is maximum for this department. The eligibility of students to get into this programme, is UG in Arts discipline, with a minimum of 50% marks, with Sankskrit as an Elective or an Honours course. Also, the department offers Ph.D programme and as of now, around 25 scholars have been awarded and around 16 more registered candidates. M.Phil was also offered from 2017 till 2021, after which it was stopped, owing to UGC regulations.
As the Coordinator of the department, I am present actively in all academic activities of the department and also an authorized signatory, in all official dealings. We, at the department, unitedly would work for its betterment and academic development. We also take pride to be part of this classical subject programme, keeping us bound to our culture and heritage.
