Dept. of Computer Application had a humble beginning in 2004 as a self-financing Department and received regular status Department of the university in 2012. The department has its own dedicated building and infrastructures.

The department’s vision is to generate competent professionals to become entrepreneurs or be part of the industry, R&D Organizations and Academia at the local/national/international levels. The mission that the department undertakes is all about providing strong theoretical as well as practical background across the computer application domain to the students, imparting the necessary skills to turn students into professionals, inculcating professional behaviours, strong ethical values, innovative research capabilities and leadership abilities among students, and empowering the youth in rural/tribal communities with IT Education extending computer application research to meet societal and local needs.

The department offers courses such as Master of Computer Application (MCA) which started in the year 2004 which is a two years course with student admission done by the Odisha Joint Entrance Examinations (OJEE), Pre- PhD in CS&IT, a one semester course which is a pre-cursor to admission into Ph.D. programme in Computer Science & IT. Also in 2021, the department started offering a Certificate Course in ‘C’ which is a 36 hours course.

The department strives to achieve excellence in teaching- learning, research and extension activities with emphasis on innovations. Over a foundation of core values – quality, high academic standards and integrity- the department has progressed in a sustained manner.
