About

The Post-Graduate Department of Economics at MSCB University was established in 2004 with the mission of delivering high-quality education and conducting research that addresses societal needs. It offers M.A., Ph.D., and Post-doctorate programs. The department publishes an annual bulletin titled Arthaprajna. A hallmark of the department is its commitment to academic excellence and research, reflected in its long-standing tradition of organising International and National-level Conferences, Seminars, Workshops, Faculty Development Programmes (FDP), Hands-on Training Programmes (HTP), Capacity Building Programmes (CBP), Panel Discussions, Lecture Series, Awareness Programmes, and Outreach Programmes.

Equipped with a dedicated Computer Lab, the department provides broad access to advanced econometric software, including IBM SPSS 29, Stata 18, and EViews 13. Faculty members of the Department actively engage in research across diverse and emerging fields of Econometrics, Macroeconomics, Monetary Economics, Financial Economics, Environmental Economics, Social Sector Economics, Development Economics, Agricultural Economics, International Economics, and Digital Economics.

The Department of Economics at MSCB University is founded on the core principle that economic science is far more than the mere study of wealth, resources, institutions, markets, and economists, but is the most powerful discipline for understanding human behaviour, societal transformation, and the forces that shape development and public policy. Through the study of economic theories, quantitative methods, econometric techniques, empirical analysis, and policy frameworks, we seek to examine the complex interactions between individuals, institutions, markets, and economies across diverse social and global contexts.
The Department is committed to advancing knowledge through excellence in teaching, research, and public engagement. Our faculty members, research scholars, and students engage with some of the most pressing economic issues of our time, contributing to scholarly discourse and evidence-based policymaking.
